Our Team

Here’s the team behind the scenes making this project happen.

Níamh Ní Bhroin

Our Founder and Chairperson

Níamh got involved with sustainability back in 2023 when she was practicing as a small animal vet in the South Downs in the UK. On her return to her homeland, she found there was little in terms of sustainability support for vets in Ireland. After discussing with some friends and colleagues, she and the team decided to set up the Veterinary Sustainability Network Ireland.

When she is not working on sustainability initiatives or working as a small animal vet in Fermoy, she can be found spending time with her partner and two cats in Cashel. She is also an avid birdwatcher and general all-round nature enthusiast.

Shauna had always had an interest in sustainability outside of the veterinary world. When Niamh thought of the concept of VSNI, she jumped on board.

She is kept busy as a mixed practice vet in East Wicklow. She is passionate about gardening, whether it is growing her own food or rewilding. Outside of this, she is often found painting or attempting to train for a triathlon.

Emma Corbett-Coffey

Steering Committee member

Emma graduated from UCD School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and worked in mixed and small animal practice before joining South East Technological University in April 2025 as a lecturer in the new Department of Veterinary Medicine. She is delighted to be part of a brand-new veterinary curriculum where sustainability is embedded from the very beginning.

Emma has always had a strong interest in sustainability, both at home and in practice, believing that small changes can lead to meaningful impact. Growing up in rural Co. Waterford nurtured her love of nature, biodiversity and One Health. When she’s not lecturing, she enjoys gardening (growing food and rewilding), spending time with her husband, boys and rescue animals, and making music in a band with her siblings
